A little about myself….
My name is Michele Vaiuso. I graduated from Quinnipiac University with my Masters in Elementary Education. I did a full year internship, as well as student taught in a First Grade classroom at West Woods Elementary School in Hamden, CT. This is my eight year teaching at Wexler Grant and I am entering the year full of excitement and enthusiasm! You can expect a monthly newsletter that will keep you updated on what your child is doing in school. It is important for you to know what your children are learning and how you can be a part of this experience. The newsletter will also contain information about the main learning objectives in each subject area, along with what I expect from your child as a learner. I am looking forward to a great, productive year!

IMPORTANT INFO...
Students will be given a homework packet every monday which should be completed and returned to school on friday morning, unless told otherwise. Homework is essential to making sure students are grasping the concepts taught. Homework will always be based on learning objectives taught that same day. It is also a vital part of your child’s grade.
As you know, it is extremely beneficial for you to take an active interest in your child’s education. Please talk to them about what they learned in school, review papers sent home, and let them read nightly to you. It is very important for you to guide them to become independent and responsible individuals. Give them simple responsibilities and praise their accomplishments. The best way for students to learn is through open communication between parent, teacher and student. Therefore, I encourage parents to become a part of their child’s education as much as possible. My door is always open and I encourage parents to volunteer in the classroom as much as possible.
Please supply your child with a backpack, pencils and a homework folder. Children's belongings should be labeled (jackets, backpacks, lunch boxes, etc). We are limited in supplies so anything you would like to contribute to the classroom would be greatly appreciated!!
